Business relationships and how we choose
Toronto Massage Guide shows local businesses next to its articles. Some of them have a business relationship with the company or person behind this site. This page explains each kind of relationship in plain words, so you can weigh our recommendations accordingly.
What the labels mean
- Client of this site's operator
- The company that runs this site provides paid marketing services to this business. It is paid by the business, so what we write about it is not an independent recommendation.
- Same owner as this site
- This business has the same owner as this site. What we write about it is not an independent recommendation.
- Sponsored
- The business paid for its placement, or the content is sponsored. What we write about it is not an independent recommendation.
- Business relationship
- We have not yet confirmed this business’s relationship with the site, so we show this neutral label until we have.
- No label
- The business is listed on its own merits, and we know of no business relationship between it and the company or person behind this site.
How we choose
We mention a business in an article when it is relevant to what the article covers. We do not rank businesses against each other, and we do not publish “best of” lists. The order of businesses follows one fixed rule everywhere (the directory, the businesses recommended under an article, and the home page): businesses we have a relationship with come first and carry a label, then the rest in alphabetical order. Nobody can pay to move up, and we do not hand-pick the order. The only exception is when you choose to sort by distance (“Show clinics near me”): then the directory lists clinics by how close they are to you. The home page shows only our partner clinics, in alphabetical order. We do not publish reviews or star ratings of businesses.
The clinic directory
The directory lists massage therapy clinics we found on the clinics’ own websites, and we check each one by hand before it is published. Listing is free. Clinics we have a relationship with are listed first and labelled; everyone else is listed alphabetically. To correct or remove a listing, use the form on the List your clinic page, or contact us as described on the privacy page. List your clinic
Comments
Comments are approved or rejected on their content (spam, abuse, off-topic), never on whether they are positive or negative about a business.
Links and clicks
Links to a business go through this site so that we can count clicks. For every business that has a label, the link is tagged as sponsored, which tells search engines that there is a business relationship. When you click, we record which page you came from and a scrambled code made from part of your IP address, not the address itself. The code changes every day and is erased after 30 days. Offers and details
Hours, prices and offers come from the businesses themselves. Please confirm them with the business before you go.
